Superbowl Sunday – Carolina v Denver

It’s that time of the year, the most watched sporting event on the planet, and time for the Cam Newtons Carolina Panthers to finish off their season in style. They go up against a stout, Denver Broncos team ‘led’ by 41 year old Peyton Manning.

The Panthers have won all but one of their matches on their run to this weeks climax to the season, and have destroyed 2 of the 4 best teams in the play-offs  (Seattle and Arizona) on their way here. Their offence has been unstoppable, their defence has made a mockery of some top quarterback, and their QB, well, he’s the season MVP by quite a way. On offence, they’ve got Greg Olsen who is Cams most targetted player, Ted Ginn jr. stretching the field and making big plays when he catches the ball. Devin Funchess and Corey Brown and Fozzy Whittaker backing those two up. On the ground Jonathon Stewart has hit the deck running on his return from injury, and if you stop those guys then Cam will do it himself, the best dual threat in the league.

Denvers strength is in their defence, which is the best in the league this season and who successfully shutdown Brady and the Patriots two weeks ago, hitting the QB a massive 20 times. (although up against the beaten up O-line) This week will be far harder for them, but they shouldn’t be underestimated. On offence, they are average, Manning can’t and won’t throw deep, he’s only in there to throw short passes, and move the chains bit by bit. This makes it tough to choose anything from that side of the game. TE Owen Daniels scored 2 last week against the Patriots, CJ Anderson didn’t score, but went for over 100 total yards, unfortunately even though he’s far superior, he has to share touches in the backfield with Ronnie Hillman. Other passing options are Manny Sanders and Demaryius Thomas, but I find it hard to pick them with any confidence when they’re being fed by Peyton Manning.

With it being the Superbowl there’s a lot of side bets available to keep peoples interests, they’ve also priced up a lot of defensive players as TD scorers, so i’ll have a cheeky little bet on Luke Keuchly, he’s scored 2 weeks running now! and 14/1 anytime is too good to pass up.

Seeing as it’s the big final I’ll be posting quite a lot of options to choose from, take your pick from the following!

All 1 pt unless stated

Cam Newton MVP @ 8/11 (Ladbrokes 3pts) – LOSE

Special teams/Defensive TD scored – Yes @ 13/8 – WIN

Fozzy Whittaker – Total combined yards – o6.5 @ 10/13 (This is a bit of a punt, but got to figure if he makes 2 plays he’ll break 7 yards, although could be a big if) – WIN

CJ Anderson longest pass reception – o9.5yards @ 5/6 – LOSE (7)

Greg Olsen and Jonathon Stewart both to score (SkyBet) @ 11/2 (2pt) – LOSE

Luke Keuchly first TD scorer @ 55/1 (0.5 pt) – Anytime @ 14/1 (0.5pt) – LOSE

Owen Daniels anytime TD scorer @ 21/10 – LOSE

Carolina Defence – o2.5 sacks @ 4/5 – WIN

Broncos Defence – o2.5 sacks @ 1/1 – WIN

Pick 6 in the match – Yes @ 6/1 – LOSE

Good luck if you follow any of them!

13 points outlay.
