Monday didn’t go great for us, but was always likely and I did say I wasn’t overly confident with anything then, so we move on to Week 10. Already, more than halfway through the regular season.
It’s AFC North TV Week!!!!
So this Thursday night sees the 0-8 Browns travel to the 4-3 Ravens, Ironically it’s the Browns who look better on offence, they’ve been putting up points and seem to still be playing for Hue Jackson, despite the fact that their defence seems to be manned by 10 year old children. Last week against Dallas was a complete mess for them. They left men wide WIDE open all over the place and were deservedly routed, by admittedly a rather good Cowboys team. Offensively they aren’t actually too bad, Terrelle Pryor has been a revelation and they plan on building around him and the rookies they acquired in this draft. That means Cody Kessler gets the start at QB, and Corey Coleman continues his return from a broken hand with his second start, if they manage to connect then it should prove fruitful. He got 41 yds from 3 catches last week, and i’m hopeful that will continue to rise in the coming weeks. Their run game has been pretty good all season, so I can’t see Crowell and Johnson doing too much, Johnson will probably be the more successful of the two as a pass catching back, but Crowell even got some in that area last week too.
The Ravens managed a comfortable win over the hapless Steelers who once again proved they’re useless on the road, although was mainly due to Big Ben coming back from injury too soon to “save the day” marvellous. Despite scoring 21 pts the ravens offence was garbage, their RBs Terrance West and Kenneth Dixon ran for 21 yds from 15 attempts and 13 yds from 9 attempts respectively. They should fare much much better than that tonight. They have been saying since their bye week that they’ll be getting Dixon more involved, and despite 1,3 ypc this was his most rush attempts in a game so far this season, and this matchup sees the duo against a defence that’s allowed nearly 150 rushing yards per game. Mike Wallace was the leading receiver last week, although 95 yards of his 124 yards came from 1 impressive play. Steve Smith managed to get himself in the game on his return from another injury, with 47 from 4 attempts, and i’d expect him to get a fair bit of action tonight providing the game doesn’t get out of had and they just leave it to the run game. Tight ends usually score against the Browns but I can’t trust someone who seems to be allergic to the end zone, so Pitta is out of my reckoning.
I think the Browns may well beat the handicap, it’s set pretty high for obvious reasons, at 8 points, although that does seem to have come in from 10.5 earlier in the week so there’s obviously some other people with those thoughts too.
- Steve Smith over 42.5 rec. yards – 5/6 (PP)
- Dixon over 22.5 rush yards – 5/6 – (PP)
- Because I’ve gone for those two, I should really recommend the SkyBet RaB – Smith o45.5 yards, Dixon o30 yds and Baltimore win – 9/4
- Terrance West anytime – 6/5 (Skybet) – 4pts.
10 pts total.
Good luck if you follow anything tonight. AFC North week continues on Sunday night with the Cowboys visiting the Steelers, and concludes on Monday night with the Bengals DESTROYING the Giants and taking the division lead
