There’s been a lot of movement in the dynasty league over the off season, and I have done a good job of strengthening my team, if I do say so myself…
We are currently lining up as such…
- QB – Eli Manning, Kirk Cousins
- RB – Jordan Howard, Ameer Abdullah
- WR – Eric Decker, Mike Wallace, Martavis Bryant, Tyler Lockett, Tyler Boyd, Eddie Royal, Travis Benjamin
- TE – Greg Olsen
- K – Janikowski
- D – Bengals and Steelers
Also have a couple of nice picks in the draft, an RB heavy draft… 1.02, 1.05, 2.03, 2.12, 4.06, 4.11, 4.12
I did regrettably have to trade DeMarco Murray for a first round pick, I think he’ll have a good season, but he’s not getting any younger and I think that the Titans will be a more pass heavy team this year, also the emergence of Derrick Henry may eat into his numbers. So getting the #5 overall and being able to take the top guy of my second tier was a deal I thought I had to make.
Our draft takes place at the end of this month (the 28th), 4 rounds of rookies and free agents to pick up, and then the waiver wire and free agency opens properly and I can make some more moves to sort out the balance in the roster!
So obviously the plan in the draft is to go for RBs. There’s a quite a few of them who should score well this year and in the future. I expect McCaffrey to go 1.01 so Fournette or Mixon are the likely choice for me at 2nd pick. I’m happy with either there! I’ll likely have to double down on RB, so we’ll see who’s available at #5 overall. I have 8 players in my second tier, and should have my choice of them, so I’ll be happy with whichever I get to pick, there’s also a couple of tight ends in there at that point which is another position that I need to improve upon. So we’ll see how I feel on the day.
Unfortunately despite having the numbers at WR, they’re still a whole pile of average. Wallace should be OK at Baltimore, they didn’t draft any offensive players, so he’ll be the de-facto no.1 there. Bryant I believe will be the #2 in one of the highest scoring offences in football. Lockett looked good before snapping his leg last season. Boyd may take a hit with the signing of Ross, but it could also open up the field for the whole Bengals offense, so he’ll be staying. Decker… I really hope he gets traded by the Jets. Although he is the only target they have so if he stays there he’ll get targeted at least. Eddie Royal will be hitting the streets, and Travis Benjamin? Who knows what’s going to happen in the passing game, they have a done of options, and gave Rivers two guys to protect him, so could be good, could be bad. Either way he’s #3 or 4 or 5, or even 6 in that teams depth chart.
Seeing as I started with guys like Zach Zenner and James Starks on the roster at RB, the released Anquain Boldin at WR I think it’s looking a little better. (Kelvin Benjamin brought me in Bryant and Lockett.) I did unfortunately lose Taylor Gabriel in a trade, I gave him and Dak for Kirk Cousins and a second round this year and next year. I feel I made a sensible choice there.
The worst thing about the league is that we’re all playing for second spot at best. One manager has acquired David Johnson, Lev Bell and Zeke. Beckham and Nuk, Kelce at TE… Derrick Henry and Corey Coleman as backups. It’s safe to say he’s got the best roster in the league by quite some way. Annoyingly all the trades I have seen have been agreeable as well, so can’t even complain about collusion!
I did manage to get @jayhatton49 an invite into the league and he took over the team that somehow won it last year. He’s been killed by the draft already though as the 3 RBs he had are all on teams who picked up decent RBs and will split workload with them. He’s not a happy man and has a lot of work to do!
